INTRODUCTION, PHILOSOPHY, DESCRIPTION
The Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes consists of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Boys’ Ranch in Hahira, Georgia, Georgia Sheriffs’ Cherokee Estate in Dalton, Georgia, Georgia Sheriffs’ Pineland in LaGrange, Georgia, Georgia Sheriffs’ Herrington Homestead in Nunez, Georgia and Georgia Sheriffs’ MountainView in Chatsworth, Georgia. The Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes offer long term residential care for children. The Georgia Sheriffs’ Association, whose purpose is to promote better law enforcement throughout Georgia, sponsors the homes. The purpose of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes is to provide a secure future for Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes accepts children between the ages of 6-16; children without serious emotional or physical handicaps, children whose IQ’s are 75 or above, and children who have not been adjudicated as a delinquent. These services include: medical, dental, educational, recreational and life skills training. For over forty years, Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes has provided quality out of home care for hundreds of children. It is the commitment of the Sheriffs of Georgia to continue this history.
