The Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes has a long history of providing care for both boys and girls. These children must meet certain admissions criteria. They must be between the ages of 6-16, initial admissions age; however, they may remain in care as long as they are being served in a school setting, including post secondary education. Youth Homes offers basic residential care for children; therefore, those who suffer severe emotional or physical handicaps are not suitable for the program. Those children who have been before a juvenile judge and convicted of a serious crime are not eligible for admissions. Youth Homes accepts only children from the State of Youth Homes offer a wide range of services to the children in care. These services include: medical, dental, educational, recreational and life skills training. For over forty years, Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes has provided quality out of home care for hundreds of children. It is the commitment of the Sheriffs of Georgia to continue this history.
