How to make a Planned Gift
Your Legacy Can Mean a Bright Future for Disadvantaged Children

For more than 50 years, generous people have helped Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes to give needy children the loving care they need to become responsible adults.
Because of their support, many young lives have been forever changed. Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes would not be possible without our many contributors.
One of the most effective ways some individuals choose to continue investing in the well-being of Georgia’s next generation is through Planned Giving. When you include Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes in your estate plans, you forever join your legacy to a sacred cause of caring for truly needy children.
There are five types of legacy gifts for you to choose from:
- Bequest: By leaving a portion of your assets to Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes in your will, your estate may receive a charitable estate tax deduction at your passing.
- Charitable Gift Annuity: In exchange for your irrevocable gift of cash, securities, or other assets, you receive a fixed sum of money each year – for life – a portion of which is tax free.
- Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust: Similar to a Charitable Gift Annuity, the Annuity Trust gives you a fixed return of the fair market value of the trust when it is established for a maximum of twenty years.
- Charitable Remainder Unitrust: Like the Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust, but with the possibility of greater (or smaller) returns because of an adjustable interest rate.
- Retained Life Estate: While retaining the right to use your property or vacation home for the term of years you choose, you can deed your property to the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes. You receive an immediate income tax deduction, and can rent or sell the property in cooperation with Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes.
